A few weeks I ventured out to a variety of international embassies with a bunch of ward peeps. I saw about 8 different embassies in DC and was able to capture a glimpse of their culture. The best part of the day? Pakistani food, Pakistani Popsicle, and henna! I am grateful to be able to be so culturally stimulated here on the east coast. I love this kind of stuff; it makes me giddy to go to the actual counties. Watch out, world!

"May peace be with you"--Pope Urban the Baer

Call it sacrilege but I definitely became pope last week as we reenacted feudalism in class. My inner drama queen comes out in these momentous historical simulations! Are you surprised at all? Probably not! Here are some pics of the different feudal states. (ps-pictures are blurry. The Pope has a lack of technology skills!)

Yes, I am definitely obsessed with this music artist and so are about 20 other people in my ward. I enjoyed a late Wednesday night seeing Ingrid in concert again. Also-I have fantastic friends.

A less than 24 hour jaunt to Philly with Kathryn with no kids or husband? (no offense, Newmans!) yes please!

And with Kathryn's mapping and efficiency skills we were able to bask in the love of the city in 5 hours tops. No biggie.

We love you, Conrad...oh yes we do

One of the highlights from last weekend? Seeing my cousin, Jeff, play Conrad Birdie in his ward's rendition of "Bye, Bye Birdie." Yes, good looks and stage presence definitely runs in the family. :)

I saw this on Facebook and just keep saying "Amen"... mostly to myself. The end of the school year is always a busy time and I am currently finding myself bombarded by grading, lesson planning, parents, students who are hoping they don't fail, and apathy-so much apathy...

I'm going to say it: Teaching is a hard job! I know all of you non-teaching folks have it tough too, but it seriously is a job you don't leave at work...and just see the sign for those details.

I can't think of a better job to prepare me for motherhood as I know that will be the next stepping stone closer to Godhood. But I'll say it, teaching is a close second.
